Hello! I am sorry for the delay on posts, I know that you are sitting on the edge of your seat wondering what has been going on! ha ha
Well as you may have guessed, we have been on a trip back to reality. After a great start of the season, we thought that we were somewhere between the '55 Red Wings, '76 Russians, and Oilers of the 80's, it was just finding where our spot in history would be. Then we turned into the 2008 Detroit Lions. We couldn't buy a win in regulation. After a disappointing loss in Frisk-Asker in overtime, our first game after the break. We played our biggest rival Stjerne in their rink. The city is only 10 minutes away and everyone in both cities loves to beat the other one. It was kind of fitting that it was during 'Rivalary Week.' The game was on national tv and sold out. It was a very intense atmosphere. We came out like the begining of the season and we were up 2-0 after the first. Our fans were signing the whole period. The second started off the same we were playing well, and I felt the best I had in a while. I even managed make a couple saves look better than they were, it was a tv game!! Then we took a penalty, then another one. The game was 2-2 quick. Then with us on our heels, they scored again with 24 seconds left in the 2nd. In the locker room, guys were throwing stuff and yelling profanities in Norweigan. (I have managed to learn those) Our athletic trainer through what can only be described as a temper tantrum which actually made me laugh a bit. Needless to say, with that attitude, on the road, we got the faen (Norweigan swear word) kicked out of us in the third and the game that started off so good ended soo bad. 6-2 Stjerne
Two days later, we played the worst team in the league and only managed a 4-3 overtime win. It felt like a loss and panic was setting in. The press even wrote that they saw some of us out after the game and they couldn't believe we would celebrate after such a bad week! Needless to say, I was out, we had the next day off and didn't play until Thursday!!! I couldn't believe the scandal it caused. It was in the papers all week. Wow would these reporters have a field day in Cardiff or the East Coast League!!
The following Thursday, all hangovers cured, we headed up to Lillehamar again. It is my favorite city in Norway. It looks like a little like Lake Placid, with bigger mountains and 500 year old buildings. It is so cool. We were on TV again so the game didn't start till 8 so the team arranged for us to stay in cabins there over night after the game so we wouldn't get home so late. I felt like I was on a romantic get-a-way with 24 dudes!! Weirdo Euros!!! We lost the game 4-2 and they deserved to beat us. I felt I played ok, made some good saves but not enough.
Finally we returned home for a Saturday game againg Stavanger. They are good and just a few points behind us in the standings. We came out better and were able to win in regulation. The final was 2-0. I was player of the game... this time, they gave me crystal wine glasses. I miss the case of beer you got in the UK!! haha
Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Happy Thanksgiving, Phil.
You joke about sitting on the edge of our seats waiting for a 'post', but it is something that I very much look forward too.
Take care,
Uncle Bern
