This week I am being reminded that Norway is quite a bit further north than our beloved Detroit...It broke freezing today, the boys said they had to scrape the ice off their cars this morning. Much like the Jefferson's did in the 70's I have 'Moved on Up' to an apartment with underground parking. I will be doing far less wind shield cleaning this season!
(You sang a little bit of the Jefferson's theme song..didn't you?)
Last Thursday we played in Asker against The Frisk Tigers. They are a good fast team who lacks a little bit of experience up front. We came in with a little extra desperation after losing our 2nd game of the season. They got on the board first only 5 minutes into the game with a shot from the slot that went over my glove... Simply put..he beat me. We answered back with a goal a couple minutes later from our ''3rd'' line. In reality our 3rd and 4th lines have outperformed our 1st and 2nd lines so far. The period ended 1-1. In the second we scored shorthanded only a few minutes in. Juray, a defenseman, scored on a break-a-way, major break down from the Tigers on that one!! Our ''3rd'' line gave us an important 3rd goal late in the period and the game was ours to lose. We were solid in the last period and walked away with a 5-1 win. Our last 2 goals came in the closing minutes, one was and empty-netter. They gave me 'Man of the Match' FYI...last year Asker gave out ipods, this year I got a gym bag, gym towel, and a coffee mug. I actually really needed a towel..but really from an ipod to a towel??? Finance crisis must of hit Norway too!
Our next game was Saturday against our cross town rival Sterjen. A must win for us, in the standings, but mostly for some street credit around town. We were a little rusty to start but came out of the 1st with a 1-0 lead. Between periods the guys seemed relieved that we were doing ok and we assumed the game would end happy.. They got a power-play half way through the 2nd and all of the sudden the game was tied 1-1. The feeling of relief was gone between periods, it was much more intense now. Then...out of nowhere....our '1st' line showed up. They gave us a 3-1 lead with 2 quick goals half-way through the period. Sterjen got 1 goal back with 18 seconds left during a 6 on 4 situation. On October 1st we play in Storhamar.
Hope everyone is doing well!
