Well our first game is in the books. I had a good idea what it expect because of the lengthy pre-season but I was still nervous. People here refer to Sarpsborg as 'Hockeytown' and just like in Detrot, it is always the goalies fault when you lose and always the Swedish guys fault when you win.. Ha ha
We played Furuset, a team from Olso, who the national paper picked to finish last. The game didn't start off as we planned. We had a couple of good chances early and their goalie made some nice saves. (He is from Finland and supposed to be very good) Our captain took a hooking penalty about 6 minutes in or so and Furuset didn't take long to go up 1-0. It was a shot from the point that hit some legs in front, just one of those goals. That is how the first period ended. Our locker room was super quiet between periods, it made me a little uneasy.
As it turned out it was the clam before the storm. They had two quick shots to start the 2nd and then we scored, then the next shift we scored, then the next shift we scored. A sigh of relief.. The 2 shots was all they could muster in the 2nd and it ended 3-1.
In the third, we looked like we were the better conditioned team, we were up 5-1 quick and their goalie was given the rest of the night off. Their back-up did a good job but still gave up a couple before the game ended 7-1 Sparta.
I played ok.. Didn't have to do much but I managed to give up some rebounds so the shot count got up to 17.. 6 in the first, 2 in the second, and 9 in the third. We finished with 40 shots.
Here is a link with highlights.. They don't show any saves but hey... 7-1 there were not many saves anyway!!! http://www.sa.no/Video_import/article3795548.ece We are the blue team.

Hi Phil,
Congratulations on the victory. Watching the video made your team look like they were playing against a Junior-A team the way your team's players skated right past their defense.
I would assume that Norway's population is very dependent on the seas for their food and livelyhood, thus their saying "the clam before the storm". It's great that your picking up some of their expressions.
Great update!
