Saturday we played our first road game. It was in Lillehammer, where the '94 Olympics were held. I woke up from my nap when we were about 20 minutes away (One thing I have mastered in 8 years of pro hockey is sleeping on the bus) I looked out the window at this view..
No one else on the bus was as interested as me but I thought it was really cool. You can see the ski jump in the distance and the dome shaped building to the left is where the olympic arenas are.
We had around 100 fans make the trip on a couple of busses, some of them were too drunk and were not let into the game... You have to respect that!! It was a pretty good game, much faster than our first game. I had some shots early so that made it easy to get into the game after trip up. Their goalie played well in the first, we had a couple of good chances but were not able to get on the board. The first ended 0-0. In the second we killed off a few powerplays, but so did they and the 2nd ended 0-0 as well. Finally, we scored with about 10 minutes left in the game to go up 1-0. It was a nice goal, over the goalies glove from about the top of the circle. Unfortunately, they answered back about 3 minutes later on the powerplay to make it 1-1. It was a shot low blocker off the post and in, I lost it through a screeen, but I would like to have it back. So the game ended 1-1.
Here we play overtime just like the NHL, 5 minutes 4 on 4, then a 3 man shoot-out. The difference is that if you win in regulation time you get 3 points in the standings, win in over-time or a shoot-out you get 2 points, lose in over-time or shoot-out you get 1 point.
O.T was fairly uneventful so that meant the game would be decided in a shoot-out. They went first and missed, then I leave the net and their goalie comes into my net. Yep we use the same net.. so weird! We ended up going 4 shots each team and no goals.. in the 5th round they scored. Unfortunately, we were unable to score at all. So we left with only 1 point. But as a consolation prize, I was awarded the player of the game for our team.

Hi Phil,
Great game!!
What a beautiful picture. For those who don't know, if you click on it, the picture should get bigger.
Question, when does the snow start to fall up there?
Keep up the good work.
Uncle Bernie
Hi Phil,
I didn't realize how pretty it was there! You need to talk Mom and Dad into flying all us out for Christmas :)
Miss you -
