A great day at the office

What a night..We played ok..I played ok..we were up 4-2 with 10 minutes left and the announcer said that with 5 minutes left in the 2nd period Valerenga was down 1-0..Our arena went crazy.. Songs about Sparta Gull (Sparta Gold) rang through the arena. Then they scored to make it 4-3 in order for anything else to matter we needed to win. We took a penalty with 1:14 left and our asses puckered. We killed off the penalty and buzzer sounded. Then we waited.

On the scoreboard they announced that they would broadcast the third period of the Valerenga game. No one left the arena, a near capacity crowd watched the game on the scorboard. If they lost, no team could catch us in the standings. This city has waited a long time for this. We sat on the bench and watched..we could do nothing..we knew that if Valerenga won, all we needed to do was win 1 game in our next 3 to be the champions..but the thought of having it over was great. As the time ticked down, the broadcast from Valerenga's game turned to the scene in Sparta Amfi. It really felt like Hockeytown, it was 'Joe Vision' for us. There were 5 or 6 news cameras on the ice waiting for our reaction if this was it... we waited.Storhamar killed off a penalty then Valerenga took one..tonight would be OUR night! 5-4-3-2-1. For the first time in 23 years the Sparta Warriors have won the Norweigan Hockey Title. People cried..an elderely lady hugged me on the street and said 'Thank you, I never thought I would live to see it again' we celebrated like they had given us Lord Stanley.
