Playoff Eve

The final 9 games ended with us in the same spot as we began them..in 2nd place. We played well at times and not very well at times, we worked hard some games, other games we took the night off. That led to a mediocre finish to the season. However, 2nd place is nothing to be ashamed of. Aside from winning the league last year, it has been well over a decade since Sparta has taken Silver in the league. On a personal note, I finished with the best save percentage in the league with 91.9%. I was 3rd in goals against average with a 2.41 and led the league in regulation wins.

Also, we had a break due to the Olympics which was great! I was able to get to London twice, practice 2 times a day while I was in Norway and enjoy the mental break from games. Our captain Jonas Anderson, represented our team and Norway well in Vancouver but lets be honest..I was cheering for the Red, White and Blue and it was tough to watch Crosby tuck that OT goal between Miller's legs. Still having an all North American final was great, especially sitting amongst a bunch of Swedes!!

As for playoffs, we had a choice between Storhamar (Who finished 8th) and Sterjen (Who finished 6th) we chose Sterjen... They are our cross town rival and they will give us a real good series. We went 4-0-2 against them this year but all the games were close but 1; we won 8-2 early in January. I wonder if we chose them because the games will be sold out and the travel is cheap..???? Hmmm It is a business. There are 3 rounds of playoffs, each a best of seven series. This year the schedule will be alternating home and away starting at the higher seeded team's arena. So we open at home tomorrow night. It will be a hard series but I love the challenge and I love playoffs!!

Hope March is off to a great start for everyone!!
